MBC MISSION COUNCIL First Quarter 2008

MBC MISSION COUNCIL                                               Second Quarter 2008

We value the opportunity and obligation to share Jesus’ love with others and will lead our church family to be involved actively in missions in our community, state, nation and world.

From April 1 through June 30, the Mission Council had monthly meetings and one additional meeting to work on financial disbursements.  International mission trips are planned this year to Honduras (September) and Cuba (November).

- MBC members responded faithfully to the following mission opportunities and projects.

- In April, Operation In As Much was a church-wide outreach to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.  Projects included: construction, appreciation gift baskets, home repair, evangelism with Hispanics and more.

- In June, children at VBS collected $457.17 for a SBC international mission project at the University of Hawaii

- At VBS, MBC members with mission experience spoke each night to the children about Cuba, Honduras, Book-Bag ministry and the 2007 Canada baseball ministry

- After VBS our materials and leftover supplies were distributed for use at Union Baptist Church in downtown Raleigh

- In June, in cooperation with Church in the Woods, MBC members provided assistance to a formerly homeless man in transitioning to an apartment.

- MBC members continue to provide 5th Saturday brown bag lunches at Moore Square in Raleigh

- At the end of June, MBC’s Book-Bag partnership (in August) with TCP and Union Baptist Church was initiated

Mission Council Meetings are held monthly, generally on the first Monday at 6:30 pm.

All are welcome.

Mission Council members are Kristi Adams, Tempe Earnhardt, Kevin Harris, Jean Sidlo, Paul Taulman, Mark Wegman, and Paul Wilder.
